Hi everyone and welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon "September" Blog Hop! If you just happened to be visiting, visit the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog to get started. And if you're already taking part in the hop, you should have arrived from Gini's fabulous blog.

This month I'm showcasing ribbon from September's Really Reasonable Ribbon Club Assortment. Here's a bit about the club:

If you really love ribbon and would like to have a wonderful assortment of ribbons sent to you automatically each month, just join the Really Reasonable Ribbon Club! Monthly ribbon club assortments are selected and pre-packed to reflect a specific theme, color, or holiday season. The assortments vary from month to month, but an average assortment has 5-8 different ribbon styles and consists of 10-15 yards of ribbon. The total price of each monthly assortment is $9.00 and includes the shipping/handling fee too!

Here is the September Ribbon Club Assortment:

I think this month is my favorite yet!  Look at all those super ribbons and textures!  Perfect for Autumn crafting!

I've got 2 projects to share using this month's assortment.  First up is an altered tag:

Would this not make the cutest Fall gift? This little scarecrow was made by a lady I go to Church with, so talented. I did a little stamping and added bows and twine to a tag and clipped it on.

Up next is a LO I did of Trick or Treat last year. My Baby Jake dressed up like a mean shark:

This assortment of ribbon is perfect for LO's, I just love the pumpkins. So easy to adhere to your project.

Swim Lessons

Hi everyone!  Hope you are all having a terrific week.  I have a LO to share tonight of my new little duck.  He/She doesn't have a name yet, because we don't know if it's a boy or a girl.  My father in-law wants to name it Squidworth...not too sure about  that one!  I also have 4 new turkeys and plan to name them after Twilight characters when I'm able to tell if they're boys/girls.  So we may have an Edward, Jacob, and Squidworth running around the barnyard soon!  The only problem I have at the moment is the duck thinks it's a turkey, but I'll figure out how to fix that problem later.

My LO tonight was made with goodies from September's Sampler Kit.  It is available at Scrapbooking Supplies R Us and is full of trendy supplies.

Here is my LO:

Isn't it just the cutest baby duck in the world?  OK maybe I'm showing a bit of favortism!  Since it thinks it's a turkey I got the kiddie pool out (use during droughts for our adult ducks) and tried to teach little Squidworth how to swim...guess what, he already knew how.  Isn't nature marvelous???  Right after these pictures he jumped out of the pool and made a mad dash for the turkeys.

Hopefully I'll be doing more LO's in the future because I finally printed my pictures off my camera disk...all 600 and some!  Can you say slacker???

So Charming

Hi everyone.  Time for a new challenge from the Digi Doodle Shop's Best.  This week we want you to add a charm to your creation.  I decided to use the beautiful Butterfly Blossoms stamp available at the Digi Doodle Shop.

And now for my card.

I colored my digi stamp with Copics and Sakura pens.  I used Papertrey Ink Cardstock and Basic Gray Patterned Papers.  My ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  My sentiment is My Mind's Eye and my charm is a Melissa Francas Chandelier Drop.

Autumn Splendor

I'm off all week on vacation and staying home to do some work around the barns and house.  And I plan to do my Fall decorating this week, adding pumpkins and leaves to everything in site!  I'm really not a fan of Autumn.  I still get the going back to school feeling, even though my last year of college was 2001.  But Autumn is my favorite "scrappy" time of the year.  Love scrapping Fall  pictures and making seasonal cards.  The oranges and reds are colors I usally don't use much, so I love the chance to craft with them.

Today  I've got a little altered card to share with you using pretty ribbon and lace from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Here is the outside of my envelope:

This is a Maya Road envelope and I simply pulled the sides apart and cut them off to make the card open like this:

I added this cute little turkey and a pretty sentiment to finish my Thanksgiving greeting.   How cute would this be as a gift tag for pecan pie or pumpkin roll for the holidays?

Next up is another Autumn card:

I just love the jar stamps and fillers from Papertrey Ink.  These little pumpkins were so fun to color.

And last but not least, a spooktacular card:

You can find all of my ribbon and lace at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I can hardly create without using ribbon on  project.  My patterned papers is My Mind's Eye.

Enjoy!!!

Barnyard Stories

It seems like everyday I'm having one type of crisis or another at the barnyard.  Always dealing with a sick animal or some other crisis that needs an intervention.  I've been thinking about including more of the "country" in my posts, thinking that some information that I pass on may help someone.  I know when I've got a sick goat, the first place I turn is the web to start my research.  And you wouldn't believe how often I've found someone who has the advice that I need.

So today my first story is going to be about deerworms.  I know what you're thinking, ick!  Deerworms are a type of brainworm.  The whitetail deer act as a host and pass it on to your unsuspecting goats!  I recently had a goat that picked up this bug, my sweet Cinnamon.

Cinnamon's first symptoms was she began falling often.  At first we thought she just lost her balance.  Then she began showing weekness in her back legs.  She was very unsteady and would fall over in the blink of an eye.  But one of the keys for me was she never lost her appetite.  I've found when most goats get sick their appetite goes first, so this was my main way of knowing it was deerworms and not another disease.  My plan of action was 7 days of Ivermec Plus then 5 days of Safeguard (types of wormer).  She's completed her medications and each day she's grown stronger.  Some goats are completely paralyzed, but I think we reached Cinnamon soon enough to prevent this.  Her main syptom was dragging her back legs and her gait.  I found a very helpful article here detailing medication doses.  Some places recommend using steroids to take down inflammation in the spinal cord.  My vet recommended to just worm her and not use steroids because if she were to have an infection the steriods would make it worse.  I did give her 2 doses of Penicillin to prevent infection, because pneumonia is often seen in these goats.  So if you have a goat with an unsteady gait or back leg weakness plus live in an area where whitetail deer have access to your pasture - think deerworm.

Now for a scrappy LO.  Since this post focuses on animals, thought I'd share a LO of some of my favorite animals:

This LO was made using goodies from the Sampler Kit for August.  You can check out September's Sampler Kit by visiting Scrapbooking Supplies R Us.

Enjoy!!!

Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge

Hi all!  Time for a new challenge at DDSB!  This week's challenge is to write a message - add a sentiment to your project.  So easy!  I almost always add sentiments to my cards, my creations feel incomplete without one.  But on this challenge I added a twist to the sentiment.

I used the beautiful new Christmas Globe Digi Stamp available at the Digi Doodle Shop.  It was so fun to color and play with:

And here is my card:

For this card, I stamped my sentiment directly on to the digi stamp.  Loved it because I didn't have to make room on my card for the sentiment.  I used Copics, Stickles, Papertrey Ink Stamps and Cardstock, My Mind's Eye Patterned Paper, and Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I used Stickles on the snowy parts of the digi stamp to add some shine.  I usually don't enjoy doing Christmas projects unless it's November or December, but this is one of my favorite cards I've made in a while!  See you just never know what may inspire you!

The Digi Doodle Shop is holding a Design Team Call, be sure to send in your application!

And visit the Digi Doodle Shop's Best to see what the DT has in store for you this week and be sure to play along and add your link.
